Howard Brown’s obituary appeared in the May 29, 1993 edition of The Virginian-Pilot (Norfolk, VA):

HOWARD L. BROWN

Howard L. Brown, 73, of the 2000 block of Sedgewick Drive, a retired crane salesman, died May 27, 1993, in a local hospital.

Mr. Brown, a native of Bennettsville, S.C., was retired from Tidewater Crane and Rigging after 25 years of service.

Survivors include his wife, Anne C. Brown; two daughters, Sandra B. Brinser of Richmond and Carol L. Zimmer of Interlachen, Fla.; one stepdaughter, Laurie S. Modena of Gordonsville, Va.; one stepson, Tyler Smith of Richmond; two sisters, Margaret May of Winston Salem, N.C. and Mary Woodriff of Fayetteville, N.C.; two brothers, Jennings Brown of Fayetteville and Douglas Brown of Hope Mills, N.C.; and four grandchildren.

A memorial service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road Chapel, by the Rev. James Snow. The family will receive friends following the service at Mr. Brown’s residence.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
