John William Finck (abt 1922 – January 27, 1945)

John Finck was aboard LCI(L)-32 when it was sunk off the coast of Anzio, Italy. LCI(L)-32 was attempting to assist LST-422, when it hit a mine. Thirty of the crew were lost and 11 wounded. He was reported Missing in Action on January 26, 1944. His name appears on the Tablets of the Missing in Sicily-Rome American Cemetery and Memorial in Nettuno, Italy. His date of death is listed as January 27, 1945, one year and one day after he was reported missing.

John was the son of Charles Henry Sr. and Carletta Finck, who lived at 1287 First Ave. in New York City at the time of John’s death.

    My brother Arthur J. Anderson ED2/C is on the tablet- wonder if I can get names of the others who were buried at sea and on the tablet from the USS Savannah- 9/11/43
