Edmund Garvey’s obituary appeared in the September 25, 1968 edition of The Morning Record (Meriden, CT):

Edmund F. Garvey

Edmund F. Garvey, 46, of 100 Valley View Drive, died Tuesday morning at the Meriden Hospital following a brief illness.

Born in Springfield, Mass., he resided in the West Hartford area most of his life, moving to Meriden 10 years ago. During World War II, he served with the U.S. Navy in the European Theatre of Operations.

Mr. Garvey was employed by the New Departure-Hyatt Bearings Division of General Motors in Bristol for the past 17 years.

He was a parishioner of St. Rose Church and was past president of the Meriden Radio Club. He was also affiliated with many amateur radio groups.

Besides his wife, Mrs. Nancy Casinghino Garvey, he is survived by a son, Thomas F. Garvey of Meriden; a brother, Robert Garvey of Wethersfield; two sisters, Mrs. George Carson of Hartford, and Mrs. Jean Pierson of Middlebury; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be Friday at 8:15 a.m. from the John J. Ferry and Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main St., and at 9 o’clock at St. Rose Church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

    @Catherine L. Adams (Garvey) Thank you for visiting my blog! Edmund served with my grandfather on USS LCI(L)-11 during World War II. While researching my grandfather’s military service, I became interested in the lives of the men he served with. I have sent you an email with more details. Thanks again!
