Dick Waits 18th Armored Replacement Battlion Retouched Picture (Framed)

I had the retouched photograph of United States Army Company B, 18th Armored Replacement Battalion taken January 1941(42?) at Fort Knox, Kentucky framed at Aaron Brothers in Sugar Land, Texas. My great grand uncle, Charles Richard “Dick” Waits, KIA on April 6, 1945, is on the far right, third row from-the-top.

It looks great and will make an outstanding addition to our study. Thanks again to Sue Rizvi for finding and sending the original.

I believe that picture was taken 9/1942. My Dad was in that group. I am trying to find enlistment & discharge papers for him.

My brother-in-law has that same picture. My wife and I were at his house today. My wife’s dad is on the first row about 2nd or 3rd person in line. He was enlisted as a corporal (enlisted 2 stripes.) His name is Chester C. Skiles. Her dad enlisted April 7th, 1942 in Dallas, TX. The photo has the front row names written at the bottom, date Sept. 1942. I have some papers that show some of these people going to Europe some time after that photo was taken and the units that they served in. I will try to locate the units personnel list. It will show where the troops were in Europe and what time. I took basic training with a fellow named Waits at Fort Hood, Texas in May, June, and July 1961.

@Wilburn M. Tackett Thank you so much for visiting my blog and posting your comment. Very interesting info about your father-in-law. If you are able to send the names of the men in the front row of the photo, I would love to see them. Thanks again!
